New batch of US Marine Corps arrive in Socotra

SANAA, March 7 (YPA) – A new batch of United State Marine Corps arrived on Saturday in Socotra Island after installing the Patriot systems, according to local sources.

The sources affirmed that the UAE occupying forces received and transferred a large group of American soldiers to the headquarters prepared by the UAE forces in the island.

The US forces had sent military experts to equip observation points to deploy radars and air defense points on the island overlooking Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean, aimed to establish a US military base on the island in the future.

December 24, 2019, the American forces arrived and started installing a Patriot missile protecting the Saudi and Emirati forces in the island.

According to the sources, the Saudi Prince Mohammed bin Salman directed on December 21, 2019, the Saudi-backed exiled Hadi’s government to agree a UAE previous request to rent the island for about 95 years.

Washington’s efforts to develop a military base on the island had been a hope for taking over for decades.
