SANAA, Feb. 8 (YPA) – Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs Abdulmohsen Tawoos on Saturday met with the newly-appointed Head of United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Sanaa Aidan O’Leary.
At the meeting, Tawoos emphasized the importance of strengthening coordination between the humanitarian organizations working in Yemen and the Council in order to facilitate the tasks of those organizations and support their humanitarian efforts to alleviate the suffering and humanitarian catastrophe that the Yemeni people face as a result of the aggression.
Tawoos explained that the measures taken by the authorities in Sanaa aim primarily to protect the organizations operating in Yemen and their cadres, especially in light of the continued aggression.
He confirmed that the Council would do its utmost to provide all the necessary facilities to ensure the success of the tasks of humanitarian organizations.
For his part, OCHA’s director appreciated the Council’s efforts, expressing his optimism for a better future for humanitarian work in light of the continuous coordination and consultation.
O’Leary affirmed that he would work to activate the Office’s activities in a way that ensures that humanitarian aids reach the largest possible number of beneficiaries.
