Corona is not global epidemic, wearing masks does not protect 100%: WHO

GENEVA, Feb. 4 (YPA) – The World Health Organization (WHO) said on Tuesday that the new Corona virus is not a global pandemic; noting that wearing masks does not protect uninfected people 100%, but additional measures must be taken.

“Currently we are not in a state of global pandemic,” Dr. Sylvie Briand, director of the WHO’s department of pandemic and epidemic diseases, told reporters in Geneva, indicating that scientists have determined the genetic sequence of the Corona virus and its transmission methods.

The number of deaths in China as a result of “coronavirus” in one day rose to a new record, after the authorities in Hubei Province announced Tuesday the registration of 64 additional deaths, bringing the total number of victims to 425 people.

Russian Deputy Minister of Healthcare Sergei Kraevoi stated that the Chinese scientists are in the process of testing the Russian anti-viral drug “Triazavirin”, which confirmed its effectiveness in combating 15 types of influenza.
