Coronavirus deaths rise to 132 in China

SANAA, Jan. 29 (YPA) – The number of death cases from the coronavirus outbreak in the country rose to 132 by the end of Tuesday, with 1,459 new infected cases confirmed, the National Health Committee of China said on Wednesday.

The total number of  coronavirus  infected cases in China was 5,974 as of Tuesday, according to Reuters.

The Government extended the Lunar New Year holiday. More large companies have closed their doors or asked employees to work from their homes in an effort to curb the spread of the disease.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has described coronavirus or coronary viruses as “a wide range of viruses, which cause diseases ranging from common colds to more severe diseases”.

Common symptoms of infection include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath and difficulty breathing.

In more severe cases, infection can cause pneumonia, acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure and even death.

Coronaviruses are transmitted between animals and people, and there are many known coronaviruses that are currently spreading among animals, which have not yet infected humans.

Last Wednesday, the World Health Organization (WHO) held a meeting following an announcement by China’s National Health Service that the new virus, which first appeared there, could be transmitted from person to person, to determine whether a global health emergency should be declared.
