3 Islah recruits killed in ambush in Abyan

ABYAN, Dec. 13 (YPA) – three soldiers of Islah party forces loyal to exiled Hadi were killed and others wounded on Friday in renewed confrontations with tribal elements backed by the UAE in al-Mahfad district of Abyan province, southern Yemen.

Sources reported that the UAE-backed tribal elements ambushed the Islah forces west of al-Mahfad, killing three soldiers and wounding others.

The attack on the Islah forces came after the arrival of large military reinforcements coming form Marib province, with the aim of controlling Abyan and suppressing the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council’s militia, according to the sources.

Elements of Al Bakazim tribe had given 48 hours to who describe them as “Brotherhood militias” to leave al-Mahfad, unless they would be driven out by force.
