5 killed in Takfiri attack in Mogadishu
SANAA, Dec 11 (YPA) – The Somali police announced on Wednesday that three civilians and two policemen were killed in an attack carried out on Tuesday evening by five takfiris on a hotel in the capital, Mogadishu, according to Somali media.
The five attackers, affiliated with Al-Shabaab, were killed in the attack, according to a police statement.
The statement added that “the security forces ended the attack on the Ciel Hotel and rescued more than 80 people, including government officials and civilians, from hotel guests.”
“Our confirmed death toll is five, they are two members of the security forces and three civilians, while nine other civilians and two soldiers were wounded,” the statement added.
The confrontations began around 7 pm on Tuesday between armed men and security personnel deployed at checkpoints on the road to the presidential palace.
The “Al-Shabab” Takfiri movement on the Internet announced that it had carried out an operation “as planned” without further details.
