SANAA, April 25 (YPA) – The United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Yemen, Martin Griffiths, expressed his deep condolences for the loss of President Saleh al-Sammad, in a telephone conversation with Deputy Foreign Minister Hussein al-Azi on Monday.
Martin said: “although I did not meet al-Sammad only once, but I felt he was a peace man .”
During the phone call, the Deputy Foreign Minister stressed on the need for the UN to play its part to stop the aggression which violated international law by targeting al-Sammad.
al-Azi pointed out that the recent aggression violations which targeted weddings and civilian facilities without paying attention to the United Nations and its charters suggest inhuman complicity with these crimes.
Al-Azi stressed on the right of the Yemeni people and leadership to defend their dignity and just cause by all legitimate means of defense, deriving their determination and strength from the spirit and approach of the martyr president and the blood of all martyrs.
