President al-Mashat congratulates Guterres on UN 70th founding anniversary

SANAA, Oct. 24 (YPA) – President of the Supreme Political Council Mahdi al-Mashat on Wednesday sent a congratulatory cable to Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres on the 70th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations.

In the cable, al-Mashat noted that Yemen was among the first countries to join the UN Organization, which is considered an umbrella for all countries of the world and has a great responsibility in establishing global security and stability.

The President expressed his hope that the Organization would improve its performance more transparent away from the tutelage that does not serve the peoples of the world.

President al-Mashat highly appreciated the efforts made by UN Chief and his Special Envoy to Yemen to restore security and stability.

In this regard, the President referred to the peace initiative he launched recently, but no official response to it has been received yet.

He called for more pressure on the aggression countries to stop the unjust war, lift the siege immediately and stop piracy on ships loaded with food and oil derivatives.
