Security director of Socotra leads coup against Hadi government

SOCOTRA, Oct. 5 (YPA) – Director of Socotra’s security in the exiled Hadi’s government, Ahmed al-Rajdahi, has declared a rebellion against Hadi’s authority and joined the UAE’s southern transitional Council, local sources reported on Friday.

According to sources in Socotra, al-Rajdahi called on the remaining Hadi forces to go to the security center in Socotra, stressing the need to raise the combat apparatus to counter Islah party militias.

Al-Rajadahi and militias belonging to the so-called ” Southern Transitional Council” in Socotra, which belongs to the Emirati delegate Khalfan al-Mazroui, raised separatists Flags on a number of institutions in Socotra, demanding the departure of the remaining of Hadi and Al-Islah forces.

Hadi’s forces are trying to regain control of the institutions that were stormed by al-Rajdahi militias, the sources said.

The sources added that the governor of Socotra province in Hadi’s government Ramzi Mahrous formed an operations room to confront the new coup plot led by al-Rajadahi and the Emeriti delegate in Socotra.

She confirmed that Mahrous’s armed groups clashed with the STC’s forces in front of the operations room in Hadibu City.

The exiled Hadi’s government sacked al-Rajadahi from his post because of his service to the UAE and his work against Hadi for nearly two years.
