Zionist Minister: Explosion of situation in Gulf will destroy Israel
SANAA, Sept. 27 (YPA) – Israeli Energy Minister Yuval Steinitz warned on Friday that tensions between Iran and the United States were approaching the boiling point and that an Israeli unity government was needed to address the threat of conflict following inconclusive elections last week.
“We are on the verge of exploding the situation concerning Iran,” said Steinitz, who is also a member of the security cabinet headed by Benjamin Netanyahu.
“The chances of an explosion between the Americans, the Iranians, the Saudis, the Iranians, or in the Gulf region, if it happens, can be very tangible and realistic,” he told 102 FM radio in Tel Aviv on Friday.
Steinitz, a member of the right-wing Likud party, said the prospect of a wider conflict was “another reason why we need to speed up, form a comprehensive unity government now and not waste months in the boycott and discussions.”
Netanyahu was tasked on Wednesday with trying to form the next coalition government after he received more support from lawmakers than just centrist rival Benny Gantz in the September 17 election.
