Aden, Sept. 26 (YPA) – Leased energy companies in the occupied province of Aden on Thursday informed Hadi’s government their intention to stop their services, which would lead to a near full stop of electricity in the province.
Owners of four electricity leasing companies said in a letter to Director General of the Electricity Corporation that they would stop next Monday, September 30, the work of their plants that provide Aden with 175 megawatts of power for the expiration of lease contracts.
The companies attributed their decision not to renew the contracts to the government’s non-commitment to its obligations in terms of non-payment of financial dues accumulated since October last year. They held Hadi’s government responsible for all expenses incurred for not paying the accumulated indebtedness.
The disruption of purchased power companies would plunge Aden into the dark and paralyze it, especially as Aden’s Haswa plant is halted.
