14 injured in explosion in western Germany

SANAA, Sept. 9 (YPA) – An explosion occurred on Sunday evening in the western German town of Aalchen, injuring 14 people.

The blast occurred at a traditional bread festival where about 100 people were at the scene, and there was a possibility that some rainwater had leaked into the fryer causing the explosion, according to local Fox News outlet.

Local police, firefighters and rescue workers rushed to the scene and the fire was extinguished.

A total of 14 people, aged between 31 and 75, were injured, six of them seriously, local police said.

Some were flown by helicopter to nearby clinics, while the criminal police were investigating the cause of the blast.
