Southern Transitional Council admits defeat of its militias in Shabwa

ADEN, Aug. 23 (YPA) – Deputy head of the so-called Southern Transitional Council loyal to the UAE Hani bin Borik has admitted that his militias had failed to impose control over the city of Ataq, the capital of Shabwa province, southeast of Yemen.

“Out of respect for Saudi-led coalition, the elite forces are totally committed to calm and consider solutions with the coalition and will stop in Shabwa, and the discipline that has happened is enough,” he said in a tweet on Twitter.

He added that in event of repeated aggression and mobilization from “terrorist Islah Party” they would not stand by and watch that.

Military observers considered that bin Borik’s remarks are a recognition of the defeat of his militias in the province of Shabwa, after the province tribes confronted military reinforcements of the transition council coming from Dhalea, Lahj and the city of Aden on Thursday, inflecting them heavy losses.
