10 soldiers killed in attack on Burkina Faso
SANAA, Aug. 20 (YPA) – Burkina Faso’s military general staff announced on Monday evening that 10 soldiers were killed in a large-scale attack by armed groups in the north of the country.
According to France-Press Agency, the general staff said in a statement that “a military force in Kotogo, Som province was attacked by gunmen, which caused the deaths of 10 soldiers and wounding numbers.”
For its part, security sources reported that a number of soldiers were missing, and that “the death toll may rise to twenty.”
Burkina Faso has been under attack by militants for four years, killing more than 500 people, initially concentrated in the north of the country, and then expanded to other areas in the east along Togo and Benin, which has become the second major area of insecurity.
The armed forces in Burkina Faso appear unable to stop the attacks, while the insurgents extend their influence over more areas, causing thousands of residents to flee the targeted towns and villages.
