Marib power plant is out of service

MARIB, Aug. 3 (YPA) – The main power plant of the occupied Marib province on Saturday stopped working due to the depletion of diesel, which led to power outages in most areas of the province.

“The actual need for the main station is 250 thousand liters of diesel, while it receives less than 170 thousand liters per day, which caused a deficit in energy,” a source at Marib power station said.

Local authorities loyal to Saudi-led coalition in the occupied province of Marib accuse tribal militants of holding diesel fuel trucks allocated for Marib power plants in al-Raka Al Ma’ili area.

The province authorities had frozen the electricity project of Marib for the benefit of private companies for selling electricity.

According to media websites of Hadi government, Marib authorities over four years paid to energy leasing companies 31 times more than cost of Marib power plant, which cost $ 49 million.
