Death toll from floods in India, Nepal, Bangladesh exceeds 300

INDIA, July 22 (YPA) – The death toll from floods and landslides caused by heavy rains in Nepal, India and Bangladesh has exceeded 300 people.

Officials in eastern India said on Monday “at least 102 people were killed by heavy rains and floods in Bihar state a week ago, in addition to 60 people dead and millions displaced in Assam state, near the borders of Bangladesh.”

In Bangladesh, authorities have recorded at least 47 deaths in the past two weeks, while at least 120 people remain missing and are believed to have been victims of flooding in Nepal.

This comes at a time the intensity of continuous rainfall in the region is decreasing as the water level in rivers begins to decline.
