Sheikh from Dhamar province killed in Marib

MARIB, July 6 (YPA) – Sheikh Saeed al-Rumaili of Dhamar province was killed with his escort when Islah Party’s militias shot at his car in the city of Marib on Friday evening, sources told Yemen Press Agency.

Al-Rumaili’s wife, his son and grandson were with him in the car and were injured in the incident, the sources added.

Sheikh al-Rumaili was on his way to the city of Sayoun in Hadramout province, eastern Yemen, to travel to Egypt for treatment, because of the closure of Sanaa Airport by Saudi-led aggression coalition for more than four years.

In related context, a citizen was killed on Thursday evening as he passed through the main road in the city of Marib.

Sources said that Murad Saleh al-Eryani was killed as a result of armed confrontations between Islah party’s militias and tribesmen, while heading to Sayoun airport to travel to Egypt to complete his treatment.

Al-Eryani spent long hours inside his car and could not leave to save himself due to fierce clashes, the sources added.

The closure of Sanaa International Airport by the aggression coalition has resulted in the continued suffering of hundreds of Yemeni patients who suffer the hardship of traveling and dangerous on their way to Sayoun, where they can leave by air for treatment abroad.
