Violent confrontations between al-Islah militants, Marib’s tribes continued

MARIB, July 4 (YPA) – Violent Clashes continued in southern Marib province between Al-Islah party militants and tribal men following a dispute over a land that broke out between them and a leader from the party of Islah (Muslim brotherhood), leaving dead and wounded on Wednesday evening.

The clashes, which began two days ago, have escalated at a sporadic pace after the tribe of Obeida entered the frontline.
The reinforcement of the security forces of the Islah group has carried out its campaign against the Ashraf tribes who defend their land.

Local sources in Marib reported that the voices of the guns and clashes shook the city and heavily after the ISlah forces reinforce its security campaign against those named “subversive Houthi elements” using tanks and shelling all sites belonging to the tribes.

The “campaign” comes under the direction of the local authority of Marib province loyal to Saudi-led coalition, which is dominated by Muslim Brotherhood against the backdrop of the armed robbery of the Ashraf territory in Marib City by the Islah leader and lawmaker Mohamed al-Hazmi.

On Wednesday, the Deputy Director of Security in Marib city, Colonel Mujahid Mabkhout Sharif was killed during clashes between security forces loyal to the invading coalition and tribesmen.
The clashes have been going on for three consecutive days.

The sources said that fierce fights took place south of Marib, in the area of al-Ashraf, between mercenaries and tribal fighters from al-Amir.

On Monday, tribal militants from the al-Amir tribe already targeted a military pickup truck south of Marib, killing two soldiers and wounding several others.
