President al-Mashat urges WFP to address imbalances in aid distribution

SANAA, May 8 (YPA) – President of the Supreme Political Council Mahdi al-Mashat on Tuesday urged the UN World Food Program (WFP) to reform imbalances in order to avoid the distribution of moldy and expired food aid to the Yemeni people.

During his meeting with WFP Deputy Executive Director Amir Mahmoud Abdulla, President al-Mashat discussed activities of the WFP Office in Yemen and how the aid being delivered to those in need.

The president stressed the need to avoid the previous mechanisms that led to the distribution of moldy and expired food and to find agreed mechanism to deliver aid to the needy people directly.

For his part, Abdulla confirmed WFP’s keenness on working seriously to contribute to alleviating the suffering of Yemenis in coordination and cooperation with the competent national authorities.
