Ministry of Water implements campaign to combat cholera in Sanaa
SANAA, May 1 (YPA) – Ministry of Water and Environment, represented by the Water and Environmental Sanitation Emergency Unit, on Wednesday carried out a campaign to fight cholera epidemic in Hamra Alab area in Al-Sabeen district of the capital Sanaa.
The campaign targets the population of the area in general within the urgent interventions implemented in the areas seeing high incidence of the epidemic, according to Coordinator of the Rapid Response Project in the capital Rashad al-Hajj.
Al-Hajj said that the campaign targeted more than 250 houses by distributing bags of cleanliness to residents and chlorine tapes, in addition to sterilizing water tanks in the houses.
The field teams intensified the program of direct awareness for the residents in the area about the causes of cholera infection and methods of prevention, he added.
He confirmed that infected cases in the area decreased to three cases until the date of April 29 compared to 29 cases during the first week of the same month.
