UAE exploitation of humanitarian aid in Yemen for occupation purposes raises broad discontent

SANAA, April 4 (YPA) – The interest of the UAE, in a remarkable way via the UAE Red Crescent, in the exploitation of humanitarian aid to win the loyalty of citizens in Yemen’s southern provinces, has aroused great controversy in the social media.

Yemeni activists said “the UAE is exploiting the people’s needs imposed by the war and the blockade on Yemen in a provocative way to promote for its occupation activity, symbols and leaders.”

Activists circulated two pictures showing the UAE flags and leaders in the areas of relief aid distribution to the extent of covering on anything indicates to the Yemeni state.

The UAE has put touches of restoration in dozens of public schools, but in return it filled their walls with the UAE’s flags and pictures and slogans glorifying its leaders.

“Aid that involves the intention to cancel the Yemeni state and its symbols, especially flag and slogan, is not needed by the Yemeni people because it is a form of violation of sovereignty,” said political analyst Yassin al-Tamimi in his Facebook page.

“Those who meet every morning in the square of this school without a flag and a slogan that links them to their country and republic will suffer from an identity crisis,” he added.

Over the past three years, the UAE has been keen to spread images of its leaders in streets of the provinces under its control, in addition to establishing secret prisons and committing abuses against citizens.
