Minster in coalition-backed government wants UAE to be expelled from alliance

ADEN, March 20 (YPA) -A minister loyal to the exiled Hadi government has called for the expulsion of the UAE from the coalition that has been leading a war on Yemen for four years.

“Our relationship with Abu Dhabi is ambiguous, and the government has to take a position to rectify its relationship with the Emiratis or to dissolve the alliance with it,” the so-called “Minister of Transportion”, Saleh Aljawbani wrote on his Twitter account on Wednesday.

“We have to take seriously the visits of the leaders of the so-called transitional council abroad as they travel to those capitals from Abu Dhabi,” he said.

The UAE has been involved in the war on Yemen since March 2015, and after its occupation of Aden it has started to establish militias that serve its own interests and objectives. Thus, the UAE has managed to control most of the southern provinces and has started to foment separatist movements in the area.

The exiled Hadi government’s anti-UAE campaign came as a dispute between them and Saudi Arabia over the oil-rich areas of Hadhramaut, Shabwah and Mahrah provinces in eastern Yemen.

While conflict between the Saudi-backed Hadi administration and the UAE are common, this marks the first time a high-ranking Hadi official had openly denounced the UAE.
