Al-Qaeda kills military commander loyal to coalition in Shabwa

SHABWA, March 27 (YPA) – A military commander loyal to Saudi-led coalition was killed on Tuesday in an ambush set by Al-Qaeda militants in the southern province of Shabwa, according to local sources.

Operations commander of the UAE-backed Shabwa elite forces, Anis Omar Ali Abdul-Manea, was killed when two improvised explosive devices planted by Al-Qaeda elements went off on the main road in Joul Raida town of Maifa district.

This came after the Shabwa elite forces had launched a military campaign against Al-Qaeda members in a number of districts of the province, arresting several of them along with important documents in their possessions.
