Sudanese demonstrator killed during participation in ongoing protests in Khartoum

SANAA, Feb. 18 (YPA) – The Central Sudan Doctors’ Committee announced on Sunday that one person was killed during a demonstration in the northern city of Khartoum.

In a statement, the committee and said that the deceased man named Abu Bakr Othman Yusuf, 62 years old.

The committee confirmed that the man was killed by suffocation with tear gas fired by the security forces on the demonstrators, after the failure of all attempts to rescue him at Khartoum sea hospital.

A demonstration took place on Sunday afternoon in the city in response to a call by the “gathering of professionals” to demonstrate.

The demonstrators chanted slogans calling for the departure of Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir from power.
