Taliban representatives meet US officials in UAE

SANAA, Dec. 17 (YPA) – Representatives of the Afghan Taliban movement met with US officials in the United Arab Emirates on Monday, said movement spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid.

According to Reuters, Mujahid said in his Twitter page that representatives of Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and the UAE will also participate in the meeting, which comes after holding at least two meetings between Taliban officials and US special envoy Zalmay Khalilzad in Qatar.

The meeting comes with the escalation of attacks of Taliban, which controls vast areas of the country, against the army and Afghan forces.

Afghanistan has not known calm since its occupation by America and its allies in 2001, where it suffers from security, economic and political chaos in light of the weakness of the central government and the escalation of the operations of the Takfiri groups in the country.
