UN Humanitarian Coordinator calls for stopping war on Yemen

SANAA, Aug. 25 (YPA) – The United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator for Yemen, Lise Grande, on Saturday called for an action to stop the war on Yemen, which has killed thousands of civilians.

“On August 22, an air strike hit a house in Durihemi district in south of Hodeidah, western Yemen, killing four civilians and injuring two others,” Grandi said on behalf of all the aid agencies in Yemen.

Another airstrike, on August 23, killed 27 civilians, including 22 children, four women and a driver, in the same district, she added.

Grande continued: “What is happening in Yemen is inconceivable. It is time for everyone to wake up to see the reality of the terrible war and its human cost.”

She stressed the need to work together to end the hostilities.
