Yemeni army escalates attacks deep into Saudi Territories

SANAA, Aug. 15 (YPA) – The Yemeni army forces have recently stepped up their offensives deep into the Saudi territories.

On Wednesday, the army units carried out an attack against a Saudi military site in west of al-Sudais site in Najran region.

The attack resulted in the killing of a number of militants hired by the Saudi regime to defend the southern kingdom, a military official told Yemen Press Agency.

This operation came less than 24 hours after the Yemeni army took control of two Saudi military positions in west of al-Sudais site in Najran.

The Saudi army had carried out an infiltration attempt on Tuesday to retake the sites, but the attempted was foiled by the Yemeni forces.

Earlier the day, the army units repelled a wide-scale infiltration by Saudi-backed militiamen towards the sites controlled by Yemeni forces in east of al-Doud Mountain in Jizan region, according to the military official.

The official added that the army units set up an ambush for the militiamen, which doubled the dead and wounded among the militiamen and forced them to flee.

Meanwhile, five Saudi-backed militiamen were shot dead in sniping operations in east of al-Doud Mountain.
