Local currency witnesses unprecedented collapse against foreign currencies in Aden

SANAA, May 23 (YPA) – Foreign currency prices witnessed a new rise in banks in the city of Aden and the southern and eastern Yemeni provinces amid a continuous collapse of the local currency since the beginning of last week, which portends an imminent economic disaster.

Banking sources reported on Thursday that the exchange rate of the US dollar in the banks of the city of Aden and the southern and eastern Yemeni province rose to 1,742 riyals, while the Saudi riyal approached the barrier of 460 riyals.

According to the sources, the price of the dollar in Sanaa and the provinces under the control of the Supreme Political Council maintained its stability at 530 riyals, and the Saudi riyal at 139.70 riyals.
