SPC calls new UN envoy to not ignore siege imposed on Yemeni people

SANAA, Aug. 16 (YPA) – The Supreme Political Council confirmed on Monday that Yemen is with the honorable peace and is awaiting positive messages from the United Nations and its new envoy.

In its meeting, chaired by President Mahdi Al-Mashat, the Council stressed that the new UN envoy should start from where his predecessor left off, avoid falling into the mistakes of his predecessors, and not ignore the siege imposed on the Yemeni people.

The Council pointed out that it has no position against the personality of any UN envoy, but rather against the absence of the supposed role of the United Nations.

The Council affirmed that the Saudi-led coalition countries are obstructing the peace process and escalating their economic war against Yemeni people through the blockade on ports and airports, especially Hodeida port and Sanaa International Airport.
