Al-Hajuri opens Salafist center in Marib

MARIB, Aug. 16 (YPA) – A center for Salafist groups led by Yahya al-Hajuri has been opened in al-Amud area of Al Jubah  district, Marib province.

This was reported by Yemen News Portal, based on local sources.

The center is planned to receive large numbers of “extremists” in accordance with Saudi funding conditions, the sources explained.

The center, built to the same specifications as Damaj center in Saada, is estimated to cost more than 10 billion riyals with Saudi support and funding, the sources said.

The center began receiving foreign expatriate students, including Africans and French, as well as Yemeni students, the sources added.

This comes at a time when fighting is taking place at the gates of Marib between  Saudi-led coalition forces on the one hand and Yemeni army forces on the other.

Observers said the opening of the center could be to recruit, train and send Salafists to fight against the Yemeni army forces.
