Popular anger escalates on island of Socotra due to Emirati enemy’s plot inside it

SOCOTRA, Jan. 23 (YPA) – Popular anger in the occupied island of Socotra escalates from day to day, as a result of the plot of the Emirati enemy inside it.

Sources from inside the island said: on Friday, dozens of its residents removed military barriers that the militia of the (transitional) occupation had set up in the Shuaab area, which is large agricultural lands and turned them into military sites.

The people declared their rejection of the armed operations on the protected lands in their areas and their conversion into a military arsenal of the Emirati occupation and Western and foreign forces, stressing their rejection of the militarization of their area west of the island.

The people promised to escalate and organize widespread popular protests against the presence of the Emirati occupation and the so-called Transitional Council militia that Abu Dhabi brought in from outside the island.

In a related context, the transitional militia, under the direction of the Emirati company Dexam, uprooted the citizens and merchants’ counters on the island of Socotra and replaced them with Emirati meters, under threat and by force of arms.

Local sources in the Socotra Archipelago Governorate confirmed that an Emirati electricity company began uprooting government electricity meters from citizens’ homes and shops, under the protection of the STC militia.

According to the sources, the Emirati company “Dexam Power”, by force and threat, confiscated the meters in homes and stores, for which citizens paid 60,000 riyals for their previously installed and replaced them with Emirati meters in a step that reflects Abu Dhabi’s plan to change the Yemeni identity on the island of Socotra after it replaced the communication network. Nationalism with an Emirati one and separating the island from the rest of the Yemeni provinces.
