WFP: 40 % of Yemeni families are unable to meet their needs

SANAA, Oct. 17 (YPA) – The United Nations World Food Program (WFP) said on Saturday access to food is a struggle for millions in Yemen, which has been in war for six years.

The program added, in a statement on Saturday, that “the half-decade-old war has raised the prices of many basic commodities and made them out of reach.”

According to the program’s latest analytical study, the sudden increase in food prices this year and the escalation of the conflict have made nearly 40 percent of families in Yemen unable to meet their basic food needs now.

The statement indicated that the most affected provinces are Jawf, Rayma, Dhalea and Bayda.

The program indicated that it is working in Yemen to support communities across the country to build or restore basic assets such as roads, irrigation canals and agricultural land.
