Coalition exacerbates humanitarian situation in Yemen: Humanitarian organization
SANAA, Oct. 14 (YPA) — European Organization for Human Right condemned the continued detention of aid ships and oil derivatives at sea preventing their entry into the port of Hodeidah.
Mohammed al-Zubaidi, the representative of the Organization at the United Nations, told the Yemeni Press Agency that preventing the entry of aid ships and oil derivatives into Yemen by coalition countries would exacerbate the humanitarian situation and further the famine among the Yemeni people.
He pointed out that these measures are taking place systematically with the aim of imposing a policy of starvation on the people of Yemen, after nearly six years of war and siege, without regard to international, humanitarian and moral laws.
Al-Zubaidi considered these acts to be a crime of genocide against civilians, which amounted to war crimes in accordance with international law and customs, and constituted a flagrant violation of human rights, which stipulated that the Yemeni people were entitled to live in peace on their own territory.
He explained that the United Nations has failed miserably in all humanitarian aspects with regard to Yemen, through its weak and dilapidated role, in sparing civilians the disasters of the conflict,
The UN also failed to contribute seriously to get Yemen out of the quagmire of food and health crises, by pressuring coalition countries to lift the blockade, he added.
Al-Zubaidi pointed out that the humanitarian disaster in Yemen, the worst in the world since the Second World War, but Yemen represents a forgotten margin for the international community and the United Nations.
He called on the honorable and free people of the world to contribute to stopping the war on Yemen, to create a road map and a comprehensive and serious peace initiative that will end the war in the country, as well as creating a suitable atmosphere for all Yemeni parties for a comprehensive dialogue away from foreign dictates and interventions in order to preserve Yemen and Yemen’s rights, freedom and independence, away from guardianship by the Saudi-Emirati regime.
