Al-Houthi to German magazine Der Spiegel: The Republic of Yemen has become field tests for US weapons
SANAA, Oct. 7 (YPA) – Leading figure in the Supreme Political Council, Mohammed Ali al-Houthi has said he welcomes any and all efforts to bring peace. He noted that it was three Saudi-led coalition that rejected the joint declaration made by UN Envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths.
In an interview with German magazine Der Spiegel, he thanked Germany for halting arms sales to Saudi Arabia, pointing to the depth of relations between the Yemeni and German peoples.
He said the national authorities in Sana’a have presented a “comprehensive solution document” with many solutions to Yemen’s problems.
“We have welcomed peace since the beginning of the aggression and we have submitted peace initiatives. So far, they [the Saudis] have not submitted any peace initiative,” he added
“We said we are ready to stop on all front lines, stop launching the missile and drone strikes , and to enter into serious solutions in accordance with the comprehensive solution document, and agree on what matters to the Yemeni people and then let’s go sign in Germany or Mecca or anywhere else, and what we are interested in is to lift the siege on the Yemeni people and stop the aggression, and they have to rebuild,” he said.
The top politician explained that the US describes people as terrorism whenever it wants.
“The Taliban have been called as terrorist by the US, but when they want to end their game, they made the Taliban knights of peace.”
He noted that this description is a political tool used by the United States of America to oppress people that oppose their policies that kill and destroy countries, as it is happening with the Republic of Yemen. Al-Houthi pointed out that every crime committed by America in Yemen increases the indignation of Yemenis against it.
“The US used the pretext of terrorism to target civilians in Yemen, while its ambassador meets with the most wanted Yemeni persons such as Ali Mohsen al-Ahmar and other leaders of the mercenaries,” he explained. He stressed that the war waged against Yemen has no legal justification.
In response to a question that the aggression against Yemen is a way by the aggressors to put pressure on Iran, Muhammad Ali al-Houthi said that this talk is untrue, stressing Sana’a does not “have the bridges with Iran that make our targeting a pressure on them.”
He also stressed that the talk that killing the Yemeni people is a means to end the Iranian threat is a clear American fallacy, and is misleading the world.
Regarding the US reports on Iran supporting Yemen with drone aircraft and ballistic missiles, the politician said: “This is impossible because of the blockade. They have to choose between two things, either we are trapped in siege and this is the truth, or they failed in the blockade and we are not trapped.”
He added that the US is talking about this fake support in order to cover up the fact that they take Saudi Arabia’s money in return for their support of this war.
“If we are supported by Iran, let America go and strike Iran. Why do they come to attack us in Yemen? The truth is that there is no support,” Mohammed al-Houthi added.
“We have told the Saudis, the Americans and others: if they have special problems with the Islamic Republic of Iran, then go to Iran. Why are you waging a military and economic war against us?”
“If targeting civilians was our methodology, there would have been thousands of massacres, but the opposite is true,” said Mohammed Ali al-Houthi in a response to a question about whether Yemen bombing civilians in Saudi Arabia.
Al-Houthi pointed out that one of the reasons for the fact that the war has not stopped yet, is Gulf money and thee fact thy the aggressors are seeking to recycle mercenaries who were working for the US and Saudi Arabia.
“When they find that there are those who can obtain full sovereignty, they attack them, as is the case happening with us in the Republic of Yemen,” he noted.
He pointed out that America is using escalation and strikes in Yemen to send messages Germany, Russia and China that they cannot face America because it has sophisticated weapons, making the Republic of Yemen a field for American weapons tests.
Mohammed Ali al-Houthi said Saudi Arabia and America crossed all red lines in the war on Yemen, targeted all vital installations, civilian dignitaries and citizens, and used forbidden weapons.
He pointed out that the prisoners of the coalition that are wanted for return to Saudi Arabia and America on the basis of prisoner exchanges, have among them many terrorist elements.
Mohammed al-Houthi further stressed that Saudi Arabia and the coalition are the ones who support al-Qaeda and ISIS.
“Several joint meetings between military leaders from both sides were held, taking part in battles, and US warplanes support these terrorist elements. We have video footage showing this.”
Regarding the suffering of the Yemeni people and the threat to cut off aid, the top politician said, “We will not stand idly by in the face of any threat to our country. We have many great means, and this choice is determined by the Leader of the Revolution , Sayyed Abdul-Malik Badreddin al-Houthi.”
The coalition of aggression has been held legally responsible for the use of the blockade as a weapon of war against the Yemeni people, al-Houthi continued.
He said the United Nations continues to demand that Saudi Arabia fulfill its commitments and so far, the pledges for 2019 have not been delivered, let alone those for 2020. Saudi Arabia did not provide a single dollar to Yemen at the donor conference, but restated what had been announced earlier.
Mohammed Al-Houthi noted that the National Salvation Government of Yemen continues to carry out its tasks towards the Yemeni people by achieving security and stability for citizens, combating al-Qaeda and ISIS, providing services to all without discrimination, and defending the sovereignty and independence of the Republic of Yemen, all of which are dedications that are not being shown by the other side of the conflict.
Al-Houthi concluded his statement by renewing his calls to the German media to visit Yemen, and expressing thanks to the German people who stand up against the aggression against Yemen.
