SANAA, Sept. 19 (YPA) – Britain, France and Germany told the UN Security Council on Friday that Iran’s exemption from UN sanctions under the 2015 nuclear deal will continue after September 20, when the United States confirms that all sanctions should be re-imposed.
According to Reuters agency, the European parties that signed the nuclear deal said in a letter to the Council composed of 15 member states, that “any decision or action to re-impose United Nations sanctions” will have no legal effect. ”
“We worked tirelessly to preserve the nuclear deal, and we remain committed to that and they are,” European parties added.
Iran had signed with the group (5 + 1) an agreement in 2015 that limits the development of its nuclear program, but President Trump announced the withdrawal from the agreement.
Under the agreement that Iran signed with world powers and agreed to place restrictions on its nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of sanctions, the date for an arms embargo imposed by the United Nations on Tehran is scheduled to expire in October.
For its part, the United States, which withdrew from the agreement in 2018, announces its desire to extend this ban.
Britain, France and Germany had declared their rejection of the United States’ use of a “trigger mechanism” against Iran and demanded that the nuclear deal be preserved on the condition that Tehran returned to abide by its commitments.
