MARIB, Sep. 14 (YPA) – The city of Marib witnessed on Monday a mass escape of heavyweight military leaders in ranks of Islah Party militia loyal to Saudi-led coalition, hours after Saudi Arabia withdrew its forces from the city.
Colonel Thiyab al-Qabli bin Nimran, a senior military commander in the coalition forces, left Marib province towards the city of Sayoun in Hadramout province, local sources in Marib told Yemen Press Agency.
Sheikh Ali Abd Rabbo al-Awadhi, a leading member of Islah Party, left with his family members the city of Marib heading for the Sultanate of Oman, the sources added.
The sources confirmed that the coalition recruits from Abidah tribes of Marib expressed their grave concern over being left alone in the mission of stopping the advance of the army and the popular committees.
The tribesmen, who fought in the ranks of the coalition forces in Marib city, described the escape of the Saudi forces and the Islah militia leaders from the city as “treason.”
The Saudi forces withdrew at dawn on Monday all their forces and military equipment from ‘Tadawain’ and ‘Al-Ruwaik’ camps in Marib city.
