4 Pakistani soldiers killed in clash with militants in North Waziristan

SANAA, July 13 (YPA) – The Pakistani army said on Sunday that four of its soldiers have been killed in a clash with militants in a tribal area in the northwest of the country along the border with Afghanistan.

The clash occurred near Miranshah, the capital of North Waziristan, near the border with Afghanistan, during a raid on a hideout and resulted in the death of four troops, the statement by Pakistan’s army said.

In detail, the four soldiers were killed when security forces were conducting an operation against the hideouts of suspected militants in the area.

“As soon as the troops cordoned off the area, terrorist opened fire. All dug out terrorists were shot down by security forces, ” the statement said, adding that “the security forces have killed all the terrorists who were taken out of their hideouts.”

Pakistan has been fighting a local armed insurgency for more than a decade that has killed thousands of civilians and security personnel in extremist attacks.

Violence in Pakistan has dropped following military operations in North Waziristan, but militant groups are still capable of carrying out attacks.
