Haftar forces target GNA’s positions east of Misrata

SANAA, June 29 (YPA) – The Libyan National Army’s Military Information Center, led by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, announced that the Libyan air forces targeted groups belonging to the Government of National Accord east of Misrata.

“Fighter jets targeted Turkish-backed militia crowd groups with three air strikes at Campo 50 near the Sadada Bridge east of Misrata,” the Military Information center said in a press release.

Libya is plagued by an armed conflict that has claimed thousands of lives following the fall of the regime of the late Leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011.

The country has been witnessing a sharp division in state institutions, between the east run by the House of Representatives and the National Army led by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, and the western part of the country run by the presidential council of the government of national accord headed by Fayez al-Sarraj, the internationally recognized government.

The fighting in Libya witnessed a major development, after the Libyan Government of National Accord announced its control over the entire administrative border of the capital Tripoli, the city of Tarhuna in western Libya, while Libyan national army commander Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar and The Speaker of the Libyan Parliament, Aqila Saleh, proposed a new initiative aimed at reaching a political solution in the country.
