Gunmen attack Ma’shiq presidential palace in Aden

ADEN, June 11 (YPA) – Gunmen affiliated with  the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) on Thursday launched an attack on Hadi’s government residence in Aden, which is under the protection of Saudi forces,  media reported.

According to the Yemen News Portal, at dawn of today the STC gunmen infiltrated cemeteries and sites overlooking the presidential palace in Ma’shiq in Krater district and attacked its buildings with different type weapons.

Karter district has been witnessing widespread clashes between Saudi forces protecting the palace and the attackers, leaving one dead and one wounded.

The sources said the attack was aimed at targeting Hadi’s Deputy Prime Minister, Salem Al Khanbashi, who is currently living in Aden.

He also manages the city’s affairs on the approval of the STC.

The attack comes amid international and regional pressure on the STC and Hadi to form a new government and to begin implementing the security and military issues of the Riyadh accord.
