ADEN, April 26 (YPA) – The southern port city of Aden has been witnessing a wave of outrage and angry protests for second day in a row, denouncing the deterioration of services and power outages.
Hundreds of angry citizens on Saturday blocked the main streets of al-Ma’ala and Al-Tawahi districts.
They chanted slogans against the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council ” STC and Hadi government”, blaming the coalition and its mercenaries for the deterioration of basic services and the disasters taking place in the city.
Days ago, Aden city witnessed heavy rains which have caused massive torrential floods in all areas, washing away countless cars and vehicles, in addition to damaging many houses in the city.
According to the residents, at least eight people have died due to the cataclysmic floods that affected several districts of the occupied city
The protesters demanded the appointment of a new governor for Aden and new directors of the directorates.
Southern journalist Fathi Bin Lazrq said in a tweet that these protests should not stop until the governor and directors are changed.
“People’s failure to meet demands means that the situation in Aden remains the same,” he added.
As angry protests escalated in Aden, a member of the so-called Southern Transitional Council (STC) Ali al-Shaybah revealed in a tweet that the STC is going to declare a state of emergency in the coming hours.
