ADEN, Jan. 30 (YPA) – Dozens of activists and citizens in several southern regions called for going out and declaring civil disobedience in rejection of the policy of impoverishment and starvation in the southern provinces of Yemen.
The activists said in posts on social media that the southern people have suffered from the high cost of living and unemployment as a result of the ongoing collapse of the Yemeni riyal against foreign currencies.
The Yemeni riyal continues its escalating collapse against foreign currencies in Aden city, where a dollar equals 2,200 riyal, amid a major collapse of the local currency, in contrast to the permanent stability of exchange rates being witnessed in Sanaa.
Some observers warned of the instability of exchange rates in light of the catastrophic collapse of the currency and its direct economic impact on citizens in light of a parallel wave of price increases, which puts Aden on the verge of a dire economic disaster.
