Bodyguard of Islah leader wounded in assassination attempt in Hadhramaut

HADHRAMAUT, Sept. 26 (YPA) – Local sources have reported on Wednesday that the former bodyguard of leader of in the Islah party (Yemeni Branch of Muslim brotherhood) former shura member “Salah Batis” was wounded by unknown gunmen in Hadhramaut province.

The sources said that gunmen believed to be affiliated to the southern transitional council militias, in the Qattn directorate of Hadramaut Valley, shot Tariq bin al-Zoua’a, a former bodyguard o the leader Salah Battis.

They fled the scene to an unknown destination, one of the sources said.
The sources explained that “Ben al-Zoua’a” was hit by several bullets in his body, after which he was taken to Qattn General Hospital and then to The Saiyoun General Hospital due to his critical condition.

Last July, unidentified gunmen assassinated Salah Bates’ brother Jamil Battis in Saiyoun.

The districts of Wadi Hadhramaut under the control of the United Arab Emirates’ occupation forces have been witnessing major security chaos, and assassinations carried out by armed factions loyal to the coalition, against Yemeni military and security officers, as well as civilian targets.
