Street war leaves 45 recruits killed, injured in Aden

ADEN, July 10 (YPA) – Street war in the districts of Sheikh Othman and Dar Saad in Aden continued, between gangs and armed factions of the UAE, on one hand, and Saudi Arabia and a third group affiliated with Islah and al-Qaeda from the another hand, leaving about 45 recruits between dead and wounded during the past three weeks of bloody clashes.

According to local sources, the clashes are taking place in the area of Saylah and Al-Mahariq, which stretches from the outskirts of Sheikh Osman’s district to Dar Saad.

The sources confirmed that the clashes were taking place between two armed gangs, one from the Saylah area and the other from al-Mahariq area, where the two gangs possessed various types of light and medium weapons.

According to local residents and eyewitnesses, during the past two weeks of clashes that had entered its third week, dozens of grenades and RPG shells had been used, causing material damage to citizens ‘ property, as well as causing deaths and injuries from both sides.

Residents said the clashes are taking place on a daily basis and intermittently forcing scores of families to be held in their homes, while several families have been displaced as mutual kidnappings between the two gangs have increased, and field executions have been carried out.
