SANAA, April 3 (YPA) – A powerful earthquake of 5.6 magnitude on the Richter scale South-eastern Taitung Province on Wednesday morning, according to the Meteorological authority of Thailand.
According to Reuters, there were no immediate reports of casualties of life or property.
A witness told Reuters that “the quake shook buildings in the capital of Taiba. The quake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers, but no further details were given.
Taiwan, a self-governing island, which is a part from China located near the intersection of two tectonic plates, making it susceptible to earthquakes.
More than 100 people died in an earthquake in south Taiwan in 2016, while the 7.6-magnitude 1999 earthquake continued to kill more than 2,000 people in the minds of some citizens.
