SANAA, March 21 (YPA) – Minister of Public Health and Population Dr. Taha al-Mutawkil on Thursday met with World Health Organization (WHO) Eastern Mediterranean Regional Director Dr. Ahmed al-Mandhari and his accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, Dr. al-Mutawkil handed over a number of files to Dr. al-Mandhari on violations of Saudi-led coalition aggression against Yemen, including direct and indirect targeting of civilians and the systematic devastation of the health sector in the country.
The health minister reviewed the health and epidemiological situations in Yemen, as well as the difficulties facing the country in the provision of medicines and medical supplies, especially for patients with chronic diseases and equipment for the public hospitals.
Dr. al-Mutawkil stressed the need for placing urgent solutions to save the health situation in Yemen, especially in light of the continued aggression that targets civilians.
He appreciated the role of the international organizations working in Yemen, topped by the WHO, and their contribution to providing the health sector needs and supporting the Health Ministry’s efforts.
For his part, Dr. al-Mandhari confirmed the readiness of WHO to stand by the Yemeni people to alleviate and reduce their big suffering.
