Civilians killed, injured in double bomb attacks in Syria’s Idlib

SANAA, Feb. 19 (YPA) – At least 15 people were killed and scores of others injured mostly civilians in twin explosions in the northwestern Syrian city of Idlib, medics and witnesses say.

They added that the first blast occurred in a main street in the provincial capital on Monday after an explosive device planted under a parked car detonated.

Many of the casualties were civil defense workers who reached the area just moments before a second explosion nearby, which some witnesses attributed to a bomb rigged to a motorcycle

Video footage circulated on social media sites, showed rescuers rescuing corpses and injured civilians from a burning wreck.

Idlib, the militant-held area located in the northwestern corner of Syria, is under the control of the al-Sham Liberation Authority, composed of an armed Islamist faction led by a faction affiliated with al-Qaeda in Syria. It has been witnessing bombings and assassinations.
