ADEN, Jan. 9 (YPA) – A leader in the so-called Southern Transitional Council (STC) in Aden has resigned on Tuesday, due to raids by a security force loyal to the Council in Bir Fadl, an official familiar with the issue has told Yemen Press Agency.
The member of the local leadership of the council, named Abdurrahman Mohamed Jefri, said that he has resigned because of the actions of a public security battalion led by Samah against the citizens of Aden.
“More than 10 military pickups loaded soldiers led by Samah have stormed and raided my relative’s home in Bir Fadl, Dara Sa’ad District on Tuesday morning, for the third time,” Jefri stated.
He confirmed that four of his family members were arrested during the raid.
Jefri said that the way of storming the house was terrifying and indiscriminate and did not take into account the sanctity of the houses.
The STC, a southern Yemeni separatist organisation backed by the UAE occupation is growing ever more fractured due to discontent with many inhabitants of Aden towards the continued occupation of the city.
