Washington seeks to sell Patriot missiles with $ 3.5 billion to Turkey

SANAA, Dec. 19 (YPA) – The US State Department has approved the sale of Patriot anti-missile missile packages to Turkey.
The defense cooperation agency of the Pentagon has identified the potential deal as $ 3.5 billion.
The Pentagon said that Turkey intends to use Patriot missile systems to strengthen its anti-missile defenses, maintain its territorial integrity and prevent regional dangers.
Turkey has been willing to buy four Patriot groups of 20 rocket launchers and 80 rockets.
The decision comes at a time when Turkish-US relations are strained over a number of issues, including Ankara’s acquisition of S-400 air and missile defense systems from Russia, a deal strongly opposed by Washington.
