Health Minister, Hodeidah acting governor launch anti-malaria campaign
HODEIDAH, Dec. 11 (YPA) – Minister of Public Health and Population Dr. Taha al-Mutawakil and Acting Governor of Hodeidah province Mohammad Quhim on Tuesday launched in al-Dhahi district the second phase of spraying campaign to combat Malaria with remaining-effect pesticide.
The campaign, carried out by the National Malaria Control Program over 11 days, targets 26 districts in the provinces, including Kamarn Island, in the provinces of Hodeidah, Raymah, Dhamar, Ibb and Taiz to reduce the spread of malaria, dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases.
Dr. al-Mutawark said that the campaign targets more than 548,000 people during the current period, especially in the mosquito breeding season, as part of the ministry’s strategy to combat malaria and dengue fever. He stressed the importance of burying the stagnant ponds and marshes to prevent disease.
