Kuwait is ready to resolve dispute with Saudi Arabia over the shared oil fields : Kuwait Deputy Foreign Minister

SANAA, Nov. 7 (YPA) – Kuwait is ready to resolve the dispute with Saudi Arabia, so it can resume oil production, which was suspended because of the rift between the two countries three years ago, Kuwait Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled Al-Jarallah said on Tuesday.

” Kuwait is working with Saudi Arabia to resolve the dispute between the two sides over the shared oil wells in order to resume production and consultations with the Saudis are underway”, Kuwait Kuna News Agency quoted Khaled Al-Jarallah as saying.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman visited Kuwait on October 3, but left hours after his arrival, after he failed to reach an agreement with Kuwait on the shared oil fields.

The two countries halted production from the Khafji and Wafra fields three years ago.

Khafji field produces 300,000 barrels per day of heavy Arab crude, compared with 200,000 in the Wafra field.

Oil production in the neutral zone, which dates back to agreements reached in the 1920s, establishes the territorial borders equally between Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
